Windows 7 Tricks Tips and Secrets

Windows 7 is a personal operating system developed by Microsoft. It is a part of Windows NT family. Many of you might have been using windows 7 since a long time. Today I will be describing some Windows 7 tricks and tips and secrets that you might have not heard of. These tips make your desktop more interesting and increase your PC efficiency. So let’s get start.

1. Access Windows 7 Hidden Theme

In Windows 7 there is a hidden theme, which you might have not come across. To access these themes just go to C: drive > Windows > Globalization > MCT, or just type  C:\Windows\Globalization\MCT in search bar. In this folder you can see themes which are designed for various countries like USA, Austrilia, Canada and some other. Open that folder go to themes and open the theme file to access the theme.

2. Burn CD’s and DVD’s without any software

In windows 7 you need not install any big size image burning software like Nero. Windows 7 comes with in built image burning software. Click Right Click on ISO file, you will see a option Burn Image To Disk.

3. Select and Open Task Bar Applications with Keyboard

You can focus to task bar applications and open them with keyboard. Press Win+T , you will be able to select and open task bar applications in Windows 7.

4. Change the Back ground of Windows Media Player

In Windows 7 you can change the windows media player background. Just need to follow these steps :

• Go to Start Menu > Run > Type Regedit, it will open Windows Registry Editor window.
• Locate this key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences
• Double click on the Library Background Image to open it. Then enter values between 0 to 6 to change the background. (see the image below)

5. Move and Re-size open windows.

To move and re-size the open Windows in Windows 7, use your Win Logo Key + Arrow Keys. This combinatiom will allows to move up, down, left and right your windows. You can also minimize these windows with arrow down key combination.

 6. Get Power Efficiency Report On Your Laptop

Are you using a Laptop, and want to get more battery life from it. Windows 7 includes a feature to get Power Report to view and make recommendations to increase better performance.

Go to Start Menu click on Run and type cmd, and press Enter. A command prompt will open.

In the command line paste the below code:

powercfg -energy -output \<i>Folder</i>\Energy_Report.html

Change the Folder to the destination folder where you want to save the report.

After a few minutes, Windows will analyze and generate report and save it .html format in the destination folder.
